If you're a youth leader of some sort, join me in this Squidoo group for youth ministers! I hope for it to grow to be a really cool resource for networking, resources, ideas, and support. Currently, if you join through that link, make a lens for the group, and earn $15 for yourself or a charity, then the Blood Water Mission gets $5. I might play with the charity settings later, but right now that is one charity that stood out to me.

All You Ever Wanted to Know about Nick on Squidoo

I just created my first Squidoo lens!
You might be asking, "What is a Squidoo lens?"
Well, Squidoo's FAQ says this:
It's an easy-to-build, single web page that can point to blogs, favorite links, RSS feeds, Flickr photos, Google maps, eBay auctions, CafePress designs, Amazon books or music, and more. Then, when someone is looking for recommended information, fast, your lens gets him started and sends him off in the right direction. It's a place for searchers to start, not finish.Go start building a lense right now.
Really it's just a content management system. But there's some sense of community thrown in there too. Go check it out, visit my Squidoo, and leave some feedback for me.

Episcopalians, Education, and Birth Rates
Check out this interview with Katharine Jefferts Schori, the new head of the Episcopal Church.
Snippet:
How many members of the Episcopal Church are there in this country?
About 2.2 million. It used to be larger percentagewise, but Episcopalians tend to be better-educated and tend to reproduce at lower rates than some other denominations. Roman Catholics and Mormons both have theological reasons for producing lots of children.
Episcopalians aren’t interested in replenishing their ranks by having children?
No. It’s probably the opposite. We encourage people to pay attention to the stewardship of the earth and not use more than their portion.

OOOOOOOoooooo!!! She did not just say that!

Kurt Johnston on Junior High Ministry
You may be the coolest, best-looking, most athletic junior high worker on the planet. You may know how to drop into a half-pipe without breaking your neck. You may be full of wisdom, experience, and patience. You may even remember a few Greek and Hebrew words from seminary. But it really doesn't matter who you are or what you can do. As a seasoned junior high youth worker, I can tell you that effective junior high ministry boils down to two things: The sovereignty of God and the support of parents.
